What to Expect from Couples and Marriage Counseling?

In your first session, the Therapist will do a comprehensive assessment of your relationship, focusing on understanding your current relationship history, family background, and recurring relationship problems. Your Therapist will pay close attention to any patterns of conflict or lack of affection. By the end of the first session, we have identified your relationship goals and developed a plan to help you achieve them.

How Long Does Couples and Marriage Therapy Take to Show Results?

We recommend 12 to 20 sessions of couples therapy Ontario for lasting change. Longer sessions (75 minutes) can be beneficial as they allow enough time for both partners to express their concerns. Most couples start noticing progress by the fourth session. Still, the timeline depends on the complexity of the issues, the couple’s openness to change, and their willingness to put in the work.

We use a blend of Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT),  Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Attachment-Informed Therapy, the Gottman Method to help you overcome your self-esteem and relationship challenges in the most effective way.

You will be in a safe and supportive space for our therapy sessions, where you can feel heard and validated as we work together towards your goals.

During our first session, we will take the time to understand your unique needs and goals, and together we will craft a personalized  plan to bring about the change you’re looking for.

We recommend an average of 12 to 20 relationship counselling sessions to fix your relationship issues.

We recommend starting with weekly relationship therapy sessions to keep the momentum going. You can move to bi-weekly or monthly sessions as you progress in therapy.

There is definitely hope for your relationship. With just a few sessions of couples counselling in Ontario, you’ll see a difference in your relationship. We ask all new clients who may have had prior negative experiences with therapy to come with an open heart and mind. Fees for relationship Counselling Toronto vary depending on the therapist’s experience and expertise; at PARISA Counselling, our fees for relationship therapy range from $240/ 50 minutes to $310/75 minutes.

We accept insurance, but unfortunately, we don’t provide direct billing. We will give you a receipt at the end of the session, and you can submit this receipt to insurance to get reimbursed. You’ll be covered if your insurance covers ” Registered Psychotherapists.”

You can definitely work on your relationship issues alone, especially if they relate to communication and past hurts, to improve your relationship, even if your partner is not open to coming to therapy.
