Counselling Process
Counselling is a collaborative process, and we regularly check in with our clients to ensure the sessions meet their needs. During the first session, we’ll learn more about you, your current and past difficulties, and your counselling needs and goals. After that, we will work with you to determine the focus of the sessions and plans and how we can attain them. You can also share your experiences with counselling, what has worked for you, and what hasn’t, and your preferences moving forward.
Counselling Goals
Some clients prefer more structured sessions, with guidance, direction, concrete goals, and home practice outside sessions. Others prioritize having a safe space to process and unpack the situations negatively affecting them. You can let us know in the first session what your preferences and expectations are. We aim to help you achieve lasting, meaningful change in the shortest time possible.
Starting counselling for the first time can be challenging, but you’re not alone. At our counselling practice, we understand the courage and vulnerability it takes to seek help. So our therapists are here to support you whether you’re unsure if counselling can help you or if you have anxiety about starting.
You can discuss any fears and hesitations in your first session. Remember, any counselling is better than no counselling. We encourage you to commit to attending at least one session.
If you don’t feel like counselling is for you after that session, you can stop attending. But don’t let your fears and hesitations hold you back from trying something that could be transformative for you.
